Oswego County Media Group (OCMG) is hiring a General Sales Manager to direct our advertising, circulation, and commercial printing sales efforts. The primary objective of this leadership role is to grow revenue streams for our traditional print and digital media offerings by acquiring more business to business and business to consumer customers.

Responsibilities for General Sales Manager

  • Manage, coach, mentor, and motivate a team of four full time associates – two direct sellers and two support staff.
  • Achieve revenue and acquisition goals.
  • Identify was to acquire new advertisers and subscribers and readers for our print and digital media offerings.
  • Establish clear retention and growth goals and process milestones for customer engagement.
  • Assist customers as needed with setting up and navigating digital and print offerings associated with subscriptions and advertising campaigns. This includes billing, accessibility, and delivery requirements.
  • Seek to promote the value of the product with brand image, developing a positive customer experience, and
  • Work with potential and existing retailers on expanding sales locations, placement of point of purchase materials, along with resolving billing and fulfillment issues for traditional print newspaper sales.
  • Review customer complaints and concerns and seek to improve all aspects of the customer experience with the company. Communicate consumer feedback to all departments.
  • Promote an energetic fan base for products and locate brand ambassadors within the to share the product's benefit and value through events, sponsorships, and community outreach.
  • Maintain a detailed understanding of products and services, assist customers with questions and suggest the best products for their needs.
  • Optimize existing processes of customer communication with the company and actively enhance all Customer Success initiatives.
  • Assist with social media management by coordinating with newsroom and advertising on upcoming news offerings and advertiser offerings.
  • Optimize subscriber acquisition cost and retention costs through process automation.

Qualifications for General Sales Manager

  • 3-5 years of experience in managing, motivating, and providing recurring training of a sales team in a media/publishing environment is strongly preferred.
  • A strong understanding of digital media advertising services – SEO, SEM, Social Media Marketing, Behavioral Targeting, Geofencing, OTT, etc.
  • Ability to travel to multiple locations in Oswego County to engage with clients/consumers and work community events/functions as needed.
  • Experience working with brand image and promoting value through customer experience.
  • Exceptional ability to communicate and foster positive relationships with external and internal stakeholders.
  • Technical skills are required, as they relate to the use of the products for managing team members, billing, and fulfillment.
  • Accountability and personal organization are essential
  • Experience in working with diverse groups and training staff members to convey company standards.
  • Ability to establish benchmarks for service expectations and cost parameters.
  • Deep understanding of customers’ concerns and thoughts regarding the use of products, and the ability to troubleshoot as needed.
  • A college degree is preferred, but not required.

Pay: From $40,000.00 per year
